Spring Recital 2010

Choir

Cono is singing. All students in grades 7-12 join the choir during the first semester of each year. During Spring Break, the choir performs around the United States.

The choir sings in four-part harmony. The choir's repertoire includes standard choral anthems, but also psalms, hymns, and gospel. They sing both accompanied and unaccompanied. The choir is directed by Andrew Belz, and assisted by Lynn Jahl. It begins performing in the fall and continues to do so throughout the school year, including visits to retirement homes and to local churches. In its history, the Cono Choir has sung at such places as before the Iowa legislature, the Moody Church in Chicago, Coral Ridge Presbyterian in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the Ligonier National Conference in Orlando, Fla., and countless church and civic groups.

While performing at least 14 times, they also see America. Since 1999, Cono students have visited places like:

J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles,
Site of former World Trade Center, NYC
Times Square, NYC
The Boston Common
Disneyland, Anaheim
Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco
Inner Harbor, Baltimore
Dealey Plaza, Dallas
Mallory Square, Key West
The Arch, St. Louis
Pike Place Fish Market, Seattle
