Athletics at Cono provide students an opportunity to learn a number of Christian principles. Initially, student athletes must acknowledge the need for growth through submission to the direction of a coach. Secondly, the student develops perseverance through enduring the hard work of practice and adapting to the coach's philosophy. In addition, a young athlete gains confidence and determination through the physical and mental strain of competition. Finally, our students learn the necessary discipline of leaving self behind in pursuit of common team goals.
Cono competes with area teams from Christian day and home schools. At this time, we offer fall sports of boy's soccer, girl's volleyball, as well as boy's and girl's cross country. Both boys and girls play basketball in the winter. During the spring, we have a track program for all students and compete with public schools in boy's and girl's soccer.
The completion of our new gymnasium with its weight room and fitness facility for strength and aerobic training has enhanced all of our athletic and physical education programs. We now host many events, including the Heart of America Christian Conference tournaments for both volleyball and basketball.
